Aysegul Ekinci’s First Book Has Been Released

Story of a death

A true story

A stunning and an emotional journey of two siblings regarding life and death

Every experience has a story, or even more than one story, but this is a “leaving” and a “separation” story. Full of mysticism elements, the mystical journey of two extraordinary siblings, who were very connected to each other, began when one of them suddenly got ill and fell into a coma. The author communicates with her doctor brother, who had an aneurysm and fell into a coma, via her mind so he can hold on to life. She will talk to her older brother, without words, throughout the hospital period full of relatives, experiences and memories.

The communication between the two siblings is stronger than ever before. The author feeling that the brother somehow hears her, he needs the language of love that she has not used until now, in order to give him strength. She tells her brother, who is in a coma, what happened to him, moment by moment. She will sometimes tell him about her childhood memories, sometimes the feelings she did not share, and sometimes the moments when she succumbed to her anger or even to her ego in the past.

The author, Aysegul Ekinci, is a journalist who has successfully represented the Turkish press abroad for many years.  The first female journalist in the world to enter the Guantanamo Military Base and she is also a war correspondent.  An experienced and fearless reporter reporting in civil war areas such as Afghanistan and Pakistan. And at the same time, a healer and an educator who has been working on energy, spirit and physical body for more than 20 years.

I Have So Much to Tell You

It tells about the female journalist who experienced life without fear and how her active life, which was without a worry of the future and without thinking about the concept of death, has changed. The dynamics she experienced within herself and with her close surroundings due to the sudden illness of her doctor brother are presented in the book with all their intensity.

When telling her story, Ekinci reveals, with all her sincerity, the answers she was seeking in the depths of her existence and her analysis on life, when she was faced with the reality of losing her brother.

And the striking, mystical and extraordinary events she experienced during and after her brother’s death, caused the author, who is an investigative journalist, to go through a new experience on the relationship between “death and birth”.

That “love” is the only reality and that death is not the end in the sense perceived by the human mind!

Every departure is a little bit of staying,

and every stay is the beginning of a departure.

No matter how hard you try to hold on,

it will move away from you.

The closer you are, the further away it is.

It is obvious that, your soul is trying to say something to my soul.

Don’t force yourself to talk, I know it’s hard.

I know, your body has slowed down and words got harder.

My hair is just like when I was a kid. Fires in my eyes and my hands are magic wands.

You didn’t know me like this, I just found out myself.

Even though a reporter, who is a war correspondent, spoke with terrorist organization leaders, became friends with danger and missed death many times, it doesn’t mean that she understands the facts of death. On the contrary, it means that she does not fully understand death and the value of life. And that’s what happened to me. One February day, I received the news that my doctor brother, whom I love very much and who’s one of the most colorful faces of my journey, was ill.

My journey, or our journey, was just starting.

What else was life going to teach us.

What I had learned and experienced, up until then, was nothing compared to my new journey.

My brother, the best person in the world, was someone who I was always proud of. He was a man who illuminated his surroundings with his light and his smile, and was able to fit almost everyone he met in his huge heart.

After that news, I embarked on a journey with my brother and mother which would change the rest of my life. Many things that I missed due to my lifelong pursuit of news and desire to explore the world caught me on this journey.

Falling ill after operating on two of his patients on a February day, my brother was saved and operated on, with miraculous efforts by his teammates, after an aneurysm he suffered right there. After that, we went to another hospital with hope. My brother fell into a coma after a cerebral hemorrhage. I have never seen him sick once in my life. If you know my brother; he was a very intelligent man who was always laughing, made people laugh, was fun and looked extraverted but was actually introverted. He had a firm grip on life.  He liked to travel, liked to see new places and never let go of his camera wherever he went. His joy was enough not only for himself but also for those around him, even for his patients. He didn’t believe in the impossible, he was one of those who said, “There has to be a solution”.

He was someone who I sometimes thought,

He was a character whom I couldn’t even associate with death

When my brother suddenly got ill and fell into a coma, he started a journey not only in mine but also in the lives of many people around him. This journey was a journey of questioning life.

Many of the apologies that we, most of the time, cram into “I’ll handle it somehow” within the course of life becomes worthy of attention when a loved one, right next to us, gets sick.

There was so much on our journey

Hope, for example

Miracle, for example

Faith, for example.
