Christopher Waltz Interview, Inglorious Basterds

AE: You played an incredible character in the movie. You became Hand Landa. How did that happen?

C.Waltz: I waited for this role a long time. Quentin Tarantino is an amazing director. His words are correct, he does everything perfectly. All you have to do is trust him.

AE: If what I hear is true, Quentin Tarantino first offered this part to Leonardo Di Caprio…

C.Waltz: Yes, I know. But at the end, I played the part. I can only be proud of it.

AE: How is Quentin Tarantino like on the set?

C.Waltz: Quentin, is incredibly respectful and polite. He is especially attentive to the actors and actresses he works with. He gets respected in return. Everything flows easily when working with him.

AE: Do you think the movie is a page from history, or another dimension originating from it?

C.Waltz: Adolph Hitler, Martin Borman, Joseph Goebbels, Heinrich Himmler. Quentin Tarantion has been trying to destroy the big four for the past 10 years. It’s a movie that challenges the history. There is history within the movie but there are other topics that are addressed as well. The audience should discover it for themselves.
