AEkinci: There are many new and dark characters in this movie. How do you find this change?

Tobey Maguire: There are a lot of bad guys in Spiderman seris. Our director Sam Raimi introduces us to new characters in each new movie. This is true for the 3rd Spiderman movie as well. There are so many layers in this movie that I didn’t know how he was going to connect it all. But he is a great director and he did a wonderful job.

AEkinci: Your are happy, sad or angry in this movie. In other words you change instantly. Was it different for you in terms of acting?

Tobey Maguire: I had fun in all three movies. I felt really good playing Spiderman. Movie lovers will see Peter Parker angry for the first time. It was interesting to show that side of him. An actor always wants to explore new horizons. I had the chance to do that in a familiar character.

AEkinci: Does your personality have any similarities to Spiderman? If so, what are they?

Tobey Maguire: (Laughs) I don’t have any similiarities to Spiderman, except for popularity. Especially children show a lot of interest in me for my role in Spiderman. That’s the only thing we share with Peter Parker.

AEkinci: Spiderman wears black in this movie. Will the audience find this strange?

Tobey Maguire: We actually wanted to get rid off Spiderman’s mask. Because you can’t see everything easily from inside the mask. In the first movie, I was wearing flat plastic things instead of shoes int he first two movies. These made my feet exhausted. Now I have sponge cushions inside my shoes. That was a great improvement. Since we will see the dark side of Spiderman in this movie, the black outfit suits that idea.
